Halloween Block Party

Mark and Susan Ruch hosted a great Halloween block party on Halloween night. The kids had a great time raiding the wash tub full of trick-or-treat candy, and Coco, the labrador retriever, added to the excitement when he caught sight of Garfunkle, the cat!

Mark and Susan served three kinds of chili – Texas, vegetarian, and Yankee. The Yankee chili is made with pasta and is delicious! Maybe we could get the Ruchs to share the recipe with us.

The partygoers brought some great breads and desserts and took time to chat around a roaring fire in the fire pit. Those attending included Kathy and Barry Wilson, Caroline Wing, Keith and Becky Weaver, Lyndon and Cindy Lambright and children Brooke and Blake, Ailene Ryan, Kim Finch, Hillary, Susan and Mark Ruch and Colin Ruch, Joyce and Ken Turner, James and Ana Owens, Jim and Melanie Deare, and Marilyn Umphrey. The children wore some pretty scary costumes, with the exception of Brooke, who was the prettiest little snow princess you’ve ever seen.  Lots of trick-or-treaters stopped by, and there was a lot of food (and treats) to eat, so everyone had a great time. Our thanks to Lyndon and Cindy for starting the block parties after Hurricane Ike.
