The Dog Barks at Midnight

Don’t you hate it when your neighbor’s dog goes crazy with the barking in the middle of the night? The dog in question is not a constant barker, so it concerned me enough to get out of bed, flip on the outside lights, and fumble around, going from window to window in the darkness to look outside. No axe-murderer coming over the fence, thank goodness. The dog was probably barking at a cat, or a skunk, or a raccoon, or an opossum, I kept telling myself, but you never know… It was hard to get back to sleep though.
