Springtime is Flea-Time

Okay, while we’re on the subject, (see previous post), I’ve noticed that the fleas don’t necessarily take a break during the winter here. Maybe the winters are too short or not cold enough, or something, because we’ve had to use flea prevention year-round.

Friday, I went to the vet’s to pick up flea drops for both cats and both dogs, and it struck me that this stuff is darned expensive. Then, of course, we’ve got the heartworm pills on top of that, and suddenly, we’ve got a substantial outlay of cash going into the vet’s till.

Does anyone know of a natural, cheaper, effective medication to prevent fleas and/or heartworms? I haven’t found anything yet. If you know of something that really works, or has really worked for you in the past, please let me know. Thanks!
