Common Plants That Are Poisonous to Dogs

From the ASPCA’s rather lengthy list, here is a shortened version from CNN of the more common plants that you might not think would be poisonous to dogs, but all of these can cause sickness and in some cases even death. Some of the plants listed below are very common in our area, so please be aware.

1. Grapes (and raisins)

2. Wild mushrooms

3. Lillies of all kinds.

4. Marijuana (!)

5. Black walnuts

6. Sago palm – any part of the plant, but particularly the seeds

7. Azaleas – eating just a few of the leaves can cause coma and/or death

8. Daffodils

9. Castor Beans

10. Dieffenbachia

Be sure to keep your dogs (and cats) away from all of these, but if they do happen to ingest anything that causes nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, swelling, listlessness, etc., be sure to get them to the vet right away.

Bailey says, “thank you.”
