Japan’s Aftershocks: Continuing and Severe

Just hours after the 6.6 aftershock on April 11,2011, Japan experienced two more severe ones, a 6.2 and a 6.0. See the list below from the USGS. Notice that these aftershocks were shallow ones, which can be much more destructive. No word yet on the status of the nuclear power plant or of any damage done. Here’s hoping Japan has a better day today. Remember that aftershocks from a serious earthquake such as the 9.0 Japan experienced a month ago can last for a decade or more.
