Texas Wildfires Close at Least Two State Parks

According to the Texas State Parks web site, Possum Kingdom State Park in Caddo is closed due to the wildfires. One other park is also closed at the moment, and I’m still searching for the name of that one. If you know which one it is, please leave a comment.

It would be helpful if the state parks’ web master would post this info on their home page. Meanwhile, if you’re considering camping any time soon or visiting any of the state parks in the fire-prone areas, be sure to call ahead.

I was at the Judge Roy Bean Museum in Leakey Saturday and they spoke with someone from Fort Davis State Park who said it was closed then. On the TFS site, it says that park is being used as a base camp for hundreds of firefighters, so I assume it is still closed.
