2011 Tornadoes: Month-by-Month Maps

Here are United States maps which show tornado activity month-by-month, beginning with February of 2011. May’s map is still in the making. We’ve experienced more than a year’s-worth of twisters just this spring. All maps courtesy of NOAA.

As you can see, tornado touch-downs increased as Spring set in, and you can be certain that May’s map will be littered with even more red dots. It would be nice to see a map with no activity on it in June, but I doubt that will happen. I’ll update this post with the May map as soon as it becomes available. Stay tuned.
