Can a cell phone charger cause a fire? Photo.

In a word, yes. Here is an excerpt from an email I received from a friend this morning, and if this doesn’t make you think twice about leaving your cell phone charger plugged in, then nothing will.

I wanted to share my experience with you and hope to save someone else from the same disaster.  My SUV caught fire Sunday within 30 minutes of leaving it parked in my driveway.  The cause was a cell phone charger that was left plugged in but not attached to a phone.  According to the fire department, chargers in your car and home should not be left plugged in.
