Texas Wildfires As Seen From the Space Station: Video

Here is a video from NASA which has the astronauts and ground control discussing the fire situation in Texas as the ISS flies over the state. The smoke plumes are clearly visible about halfway through the video. The space station is moving from southwest to northeast over the state, but the video starts out when they are still well south of Texas, over Mexico, so you have to be patient.

When those plumes of smoke come into view, it sort of sends a chill down the spine. You suddenly realize how large these fires really are.

On a side note: there is an astronaut who is native Texan on the space station right now, and he is deeply affected by what he sees. I think we all are. Here’s the video for you.
