Texas Wildfires: The Tri-County Fire Produces Lots of Smoke

Around noon yesterday, it became very smoky in The Woodlands. You could see the haze in the air and actually smell the smoke. It caused more than just a little consternation around here. “Do you see the smoke?” “Can you smell it?” Those were the questions of the day.

Well, it appears it was even worse out on FM1486. The Houston Chronicle has posted a Nick de la Torre photo that shows police officers closing the road due to the smoke. Too dangerous to drive.

Please read “Haze of anxiety for fire evacuees,” in today’s Houston Chronicle for more complete information about the Montgomery/Waller/Grimes Counties fire, and please remember to keep the firefighters, many of whom are volunteers, and all of the folks in harm’s way in your thoughts and prayers today.
