Texas Wildfires: Walker County Fire Burning West of Huntsville

No word yet on evacuations or areas affected. Please stay tuned for updates on this fire. I will post again at approximately 9:00 p.m. as more information becomes available.

As evening comes on, the winds have picked up. Still hot. 98 degrees in The Woodlands as I write…

Update from Bryan/College Station. It appears the Walker County fire can be seen from Montgomery. See this link: KBTX.com  This is everything I can find on this particular fire at the moment. I just walked home from a neighbor’s house down the street, and the wind has picked up quite a bit. Our American flag is flapping in the breeze. Hope it’s calmer in Walker County than it is here.

It seems the fire in George Bush Park is still burning and the flames have increased, but they’re still pretty sure they can keep this one under control because of the reservoir and levee nearby. Stay tuned…
