Texas Wildfires: Blaze in George Bush Park Contained-Video

This one was scary for people who lived nearby, but no homes were lost, even though ash floated overhead for quite a distance around the area, and no injuries were reported. Our hats are off to the firefighters again.

Westbound Westheimer Parkway is closed between Westheimer and South Barker Cypress Road. Drivers are asked to use FM1093 or the Westpark Tollway as an alternate route. Heavy smoke is likely to remain in the area for several days.

Residents living northeast of the park are asked to be alert and ready to leave quickly if the fire flares up again today. The fire is being closely monitored.  Please go to ABC13.com for the video and more details on this fire.

There will no doubt be photos of the fire damage to the park later on today. I’ll post those as they become available.
