Information about this particular fire is hard to come by for some reason. I did find a local source in Huntsville that had a little to say about it. Basically the fire burned close to 800 acres along Hopewell Road. I guess that’s a small fire compared to the others we’ve experienced lately. Read the short article on The Huntsville Item online. If you’re not familiar with Walker County and Huntsville, Texas, Walker County is northeast of Harris County, (where Houston is located). Huntsville is where the large state prison is located, and an execution is set to be carried out in the next day or two, so most of the local news concerns the upcoming execution.
My husband and I saw a horse trailer on Rayford Road this morning that had “Heaven, Hell, or Huntsville” painted in fancy script on the back. We sort of got a chuckle out of that, considering how many people have “met their maker” so to speak, in the prison there.
